The house, formerly occupied by Mahibul’s father and former city mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, was targeted while the minister was away, although family members were present at the time.

Earlier, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the office of Member of Parliament for Chittagong-10 Constituency, Mohiuddin, located in Lalkhan Bazar, was also attacked and set ablaze. Police boxes at Newmarket, Tigerpass, and GEC junctions in the city were also vandalized.
